Vishnu: Wikipedia

Vishnu is the supreme being in its Vaishnavism tradition. He is the god of protection, preservation of good, dharma restoration, and Moksha.

Moksha is a philospphy that refers to release. It can also refer to the cycle of death and rebirth as well as the freedom from ignorance. 

Dashavatara refers to the ten primary avatars of Vishnu. Dasa means ten and avatara means incarnation.

Matsya was the first of Vishnu incarnations. He was a fish.
